Your public IP address is the network address that websites and online services can see when your connection reaches them. This free tool displays the public IP detected for your current request, along with available ISP and approximate location information.
The result may include your IP address, estimated city, region, country, country code, ISP, latitude, longitude and a map. Location data is an estimate based on an IP geolocation database. It does not reveal your precise home, room or device position, and it may be inaccurate.
You do not need to enter a domain or submit a form. The tool reads the address associated with the request reaching the website. If several devices share one router, they may show the same public IP even though each device has a different private address inside the local network.
IP stands for Internet Protocol. An IP address identifies a network interface so data can be routed between networks. When you request a webpage, packets need source and destination information so responses can return through the internet connection.

A static IP is intended to remain consistent, while a dynamic IP can change when the provider renews an assignment, reconnects service or changes network configuration. Many residential and mobile connections use dynamic addressing.
A current address staying the same for several days does not prove that it is contractually static. If a fixed public IP is required for hosting, access control or remote administration, confirm the service details directly with the provider.
IP geolocation databases associate address ranges with estimated countries, regions, cities, network operators and coordinates. Their information may be based on registration data, routing observations, provider information and other signals.
The displayed latitude and longitude usually represent an estimated area or database reference point, not the physical coordinates of the user. City-level results can be wrong, particularly for mobile carriers, corporate networks, satellite connections, VPNs, proxies and recently reassigned IP ranges.
Do not use IP geolocation alone for an emergency location, delivery address, legal conclusion or identity verification.
The ISP field is derived from network and address-range information. It may show a parent company, mobile carrier, cloud provider, corporate network, VPN operator or another organization responsible for the visible range. The displayed name may therefore differ from the brand on your monthly bill.
If a reverse proxy or privacy service sits between your browser and the destination, the visible network may also belong to that intermediary. This does not automatically mean that the connection is compromised.
If you are troubleshooting an allowlist or remote connection, check the address while connected through the exact network and VPN configuration that will be used.
Knowing the visible address can help confirm whether a VPN, proxy or network change took effect. However, seeing an IP does not prove that the entire connection is healthy. Speed, DNS, packet loss and server availability require separate tests.
Some administrators restrict access to approved public addresses. Confirm whether your connection uses a dynamic or shared address before relying on an allowlist, and use secure authentication in addition to address restrictions.
Website owners may compare a current public address with authorized access logs while investigating a login or request. An IP is only one clue; shared networks and changing addresses mean it should not be treated as conclusive personal identification.
Check the page before and after connecting to a VPN. If the visible IP and estimated region change to the VPN server's network, the web request is likely using that route. This test alone does not audit every possible privacy leak or confirm the security of the VPN provider.
